(Sioux City, Iowa) Dordt College made the most of five hits in their elimination game with Hastings at the Great Plains Athletic Conference softball game on Friday, May 6.

Dordt scored one in the second when they capitalized on a Hastings College error with two outs to get an unearned run in. Hastings plated one in the top of the fifth to tie the game but the Defenders came right back with two in the bottom of the inning. Back to back singles by Amber Soodsma and Chelsie Harris with two outs in the inning provided Dordt's offense.

While Dordt was getting three runs the Broncos were struggling to string hits together with Amanda Nikkel keeping them off balance, allowing just five hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Mackenzie Welchert took the loss while allowing five hits to five different Defenders.

The win keeps Dordt alive in the tournament.
