Dordt College Softball vs. Doane-GPAC Tournament

(Sioux City, Iowa (SYA Softball Complex)) Dordt's Amanda Nikkel spun a no-hitter in an 11-0 win over the Doane Tigers in the first round of the Great Plains Athletic Conference tournament in Sioux City.
Dordt scored three in the bottom of the first inning with Sarah Seymour sending a sacrifice fly to centerfield and Megan Huizenga doubled in two more runs for the 3-0 advantage.
Seymour and Huizenga singled in the third inning with two outs and Kassandra Heynen delivered a single to knock in Seymour and give Dordt a 4-0 lead. The fourth inning featured seven runs on eight innings with two Doane errors.
While Dordt was putting the game out of reach Amanda Nikkel was salting the game away with five innings of no-hit softball. The senior walked two and struck out six.
Amber Soodsma had two hits with two runs scored. Sarah Seymour had two hits with two runs batted in. Megan Huizenga, Kaitlyn Lockhorst and Kassandra Heynen all had two hits with two runs batted in each. Haley Huisman also had two hits and scored a run and knocked in a run. Dordt banged out 15 hits in its first game since Friday, April 29.
