Dordt College Softball vs. Peru State-Sterling Tournament

(Sterling, Kansas) For the second game in a row the Dordt Defender softball team had a difficult time getting the offense rolling, dropping a 9-1 decision to Peru State (Nebraska) in a game at the Sterling College Classic in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Dordt allowed one run in the first, two each in the second and third and four in the fourth before getting a run off a Megan Huizenga homerun in the fifth inning to avert the shutout and no-hitter. Bethany Dykstra also reached twice on error for the Defenders who are now 3-6.

Amber Soodsma took the loss on the mound after working three innings and allowed six hits with five runs and walked two wit three strikeouts. Two of the runs Soodsma was charged with were earned runs. Chelsie Harris came on in relief and went one inning and allowed four runs.

Dordt is 3-6 and will face Concordia in Seward, Nebraska in conference play on Saturday, March 19 in the final stop of their Spring Break trip.
