Dordt College Softball vs. Central Christian

(McPherson, Kansas) The Dordt College softball team earned its first win of the season with a 14-4, six inning win over Central Christian on Wednesday evening, March 16 in McPherson, Kansas.
Dordt got on the board with a Sarah Seymour single and a Kassandra Heynen double to centerfield that scored Seymour. The Defenders then rang up seven runs in the second inning with Amber Soodsma delivering a run scoring triple. Soodsma later scored on a wild pitch. Megan Huizenga worked for a bases loaded walk for Dordt's third run of the inning. Bethany Dykstra singled in a run and Ashley Viet later singled in two runs as Dordt scored seven runs on five hits in the inning.
Dykstra later doubled in a pair of runs in the third inning and Dordt finished the contest off by virtue of the eight run difference rule with three runs in teh sixth on three hits--a Jocelyn Bousema single, a Chelsie Harris single and a Nicole Tate single. Seymour also had a run batted in on a sacrifice fly. Central Christian's runs came in the fifth inning.
Dordt had 13 hits in the win while limiting Central Christian to seven base knocks. Amanda Nikkel got the pitching win while allowing two hits with one walk and struck out four. Brittany Kooiker came on in relief and pitched the final two innings.
Amber Soodsma and Sarah Seymour each had two hits,two runs scored and one run batted in. Bethany Dykstra had three runs batted in on three hits--two of her hits were doubles.
