(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College scored one unearned run in the seventh and came through with a run in the bottom of the eighth to steal game one of their doubleheader with the Doane Tigers on Friday night in Sioux Center.

Jenna Alswager took a perfect game into the seventh inning for Doane but her defense couldn't finish it off. Doane scored a run in the sixth on a homerun by Shelby Mendlik off of Dordt's Amanda Nikkel. Dordt went in order for the sixth straight inning in the bottom of the sixth and came up in the seventh down 1-0. Amber Soodsma broke up the perfect game with a triple to right field but the next two batters were retired without incident as Paige Fynaardt flew out to right and Bethany Dykstra grounded out. Sarah Seymour forced extra innings with a sharply hit ground ball that the Doane second bagger couldn't handle, allowing Soodsma to score an unearned run.

Doane was retired in order in the eighth and Dordt came to bat in the bottom of the extra frame. Chelsie Harris singled and Jocelyn Bousema ran for her. Haley Huisman sacrificed Bousema to second and on the next play Kaitlyn Lockhorst bounced one back to the pitcher. Bousema gambled and went for third and slid under the tag, putting runners at the corners with one out. Amber Soodsma was walked intentionally and Paige Fynaardt ended the game on a line drive into left field for the 2-1 win.

Nikkel limited Doane to three hits and struck out two with no walks. Alswager took the loss after striking out four and walking one intentionally. Soodsma, Fynaardt, Megan Huizenga and Harris all had hits for Dordt.
