Dordt College Softball vs. Northwestern

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College earned a split of their doubleheader with Northwestern with a 4-0 win over the Northwestern Red Raiders on Wednesday night in Sioux Center.
Dordt scored two in the first with Bethany Dykstra knocking in a run with a double and Sarah Seymour a run with a single. Dordt tacked on one run each in the third and fourth with a Megan Huizenga grounder getting a run in during the third and a Paige Fynaardt single got the tally across in the fourth.
While the Dordt offense was producing four runs Amber Soodsma was keeping Northwestern off balance while allowing four hits. Northwestern's best chance came in the second when they left the bases loaded.
Soodsma had four strikeouts and three bases on balls. Keely Bracelin took the loss while giving up ten hits. Sarah Seymour had three hits for the Defenders while Bethany Dykstra and Paige Fynaardt each had a single and a double.
Dordt is now 9-7 in the GPAC and 13-14. Northwestern is 12-18 overall and 8-8 in the GPAC and saw their six game winning streak snapped in the 4-0 loss. Dordt is scheduled to host Dakota Wesleyan on Thursday, April 21.
