Dordt College Softball vs. Morningside

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College scored three runs in the second inning on a bases loaded triple and never trailed on the way to a 5-2 win over Morningside in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball at Sioux Center. Dordt led by a 5-0 score before Morningside got two across in the sixth inning to keep it interesting.
Bethany Dykstra reached on an error in the third inning. Chelsie Harris singled with two outs to keep the inning alive and Haley Huisman followed with a single to load the bases. Amber Soodsma then delivered a triple to right field to clear the bases and gave Dordt a lead they held the rest of the way.
Dordt followed with a run in the third when Sarah Seymour and Bethany Dykstra singled her in. Dordt got one more in the fourth with Soodsma singling in Rachael Veurink. Dordt squandered an opportunity to break the game open, leaving the bases loaded.
Morningside got two across in the sixth but went in order in the seventh, dropping their fourth game of the conference season.
Amanda Nikkel got the win while striking out six and walked none while scattering eight hits. Amber Soodsma was 3-4 at the plate with four runs batted in and Sarah Seymour was 2-3 with a run scored. Bethany Dykstra, Chelsie Harris and Haley Huisman each had singles.
Emma Remy took the loss and gave up five runs on seven hits and struck out five.
