Dordt College Softball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) After a dramatic win in game one the Dordt Defenders strung together four innings in a row where they scored to take a 9-2 win over the Sioux Falls Cougars.
Dordt surrendered a run in the second inning with a solo homerun by Naomi Tesar. Dordt answered in the bottom of the third inning when Megan Huizenga went deep for a three-run homerun after Amber Soodsma and Sarah Seymour were walked and hit by a pitch respectively.
Another run in the fourth came on an error and Bethany Dykstra delivered a two run single in the fifth for an 8-1 lead. A run by Sioux Falls narrowed the difference to 8-2 but Dordt answered with three runs in the sixth when Amber Soodsma tripled in two runs and Paige Fynaardt, the hero in game one with two homeruns, delivered a sacrifice fly to make the final 9-2 when Sioux Falls wasn't able to score in the seventh.
Dordt outhit the visitors 7-4 with Soodsma going 2-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Five other Defenders had one hit each. Soodsma was also the winning pitcher with nine strikeouts against one walk and she allowed four hits. Jamie Sorenson took the loss for Sioux Falls while walking four and striking out three.
Dordt is now 4-2 in the league and 7-8 overall while Sioux Falls is 3-3 and 5-9. Dordt's next action is Friday when they host Hastings.
