Dordt College Softball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) An eight run second inning was all the offense Nebraska Wesleyan would need on the way to splitting its softball doubleheader with the Dordt College Defenders on Saturday, April 2 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Dordt was outhit 15-8 in the game with the Prairie Wolves banging out nine hits in the second inning and scoring eight unearned runs. Dordt opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second on an Ashley Viet homerun. Dordt got one run back in the fourth on a throwing error that allowed Bethany Dykstra to score but the hosts got the run back with a single run in the fourth. Dordt scored two in the fifth inning--both were unearned and Nebraska Wesleyan made the final 10-4 with one score in the bottom of the fifth.
Amber Soodsma took the loss for Dordt and surrendered 15 hits with one walk and one earned run allowed. Jocelyn Bousema had three hits and Dykstra had two in the loss.
Dordt is now 5-8 overall and 2-2 in the league while Wesleyan is 15-3 and 3-3 in the GPAC. Dordt will host Sioux Falls on Wednesday, April 6 in its next outing.
