Dordt College Softball vs. Concordia--GPAC Tournament

(Hastings, Nebraska) Missed opportunities late in the game spelled the end of the Dordt College softball season in an elimination game at the GPAC tournament in Hastings, Nebraska against Concordia on Thursday. The Defenders lost a 2-1 decision to end their season at 18-20.
Concordia got on the board immediately with a run in the first but came back for a run of its own in the third frame to tie it 1-1. The run came when Becca Hengeveld reached on an error and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Amber Soodsma then knocked her in with a single.
Dordt left a runner in scoring position in the fourth and Concordia scored the next inning to take the lead on three hits while stranding two runner themselves. Dordt loaded the bases in the sixth and came up with no runs and had a runner on third with one out in the bottom of the seventh and couldn't get the timely hit to tie the game.
Amanda Nikkel took the loss while surrendering six hits, no walks and she struck out three. Dordt's five hits were accounted for with two singles by Sarah Seymour and a single each by Soodsma, Megan Huizenga and Haley Huisman.
Dordt's season ends with an 18-20 mark. Dordt was fifth in the final GPAC standings with a 14-10 record.
