Dordt College Softball vs. Mayville State

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College scored a 9-1 win in game two of the doubleheader with Mayville State on Monday afternoon to earn sweep in non-conference play. Dordt's Amber Soodsma allowed just two hits in six innings of work for their fifth win of the season and got help from 12 base hits for the win.
Dordt got two in the first inning when Sarah Seymour knocked in two runs with a double. Dordt got two more in the second when Kaitlyn Lockhorst delivered a triple for one run and Amber Soodsma plated a run with a single.
The 4-0 lead held until the fourth when Mayville State got one run in the top of the fourth and but Dordt responded with four runs on three hits and capitalized on an error as well. The Defenders ended the game when Sarah Seymour doubled and Brittany Kooiker scored while running for her on a single by Kassandra Heynen.
Soodsma got the win while striking out five. Lockhorst, Soodsma, Seymour and Heynen all had two hits as Dordt banged out 12 hits. Heynen and Seymour each had two doubles.
Dordt is now 5-7 overall and will face Mayville State Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in a conference doubleheader.
