Dordt College Softball vs. Indiana Tech

(Clermont, Florida) The Dordt College softball team surrendered two runs in the sixth inning and lost a 5-4 decision to Indiana Tech at Clermont, Florida on Tuesday, March 16.

Dordt took a brief lead in the bottom of the fifth when Becca Hengeveld singled and eventually advanced to third on a pair of wild pitches. A walk to Kaitlyn Lockhorst followed by a stolen base put runners in scoring position and they both scored unearned runs on passed balls.

The 4-3 lead did not hold with Indiana Tech getting two runs in the sixth by virtue of three hits. Sarah Seymour gave Dordt a two run lead with a two run homerun in the first inning.

Hengeveld had two hits as Dordt was out hit 8-6 with four other players each getting base hits. Amber Soodsma took the loss in allowing five runs--three of them earned and struck out three while giving up eight hits.
