Dordt College Softball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender softball team banged out 13 hits on the way to an 8-3 win over the Hastings Broncos for a split their doubleheader at Hastings, Nebraska.
Dordt scored three in the second and four in the fourth while building a 7-2 lead and then got a run for insurance in the sixth for their 14th win of the season. Dordt's Amanda Nikkel was the winning pitcher while allowing four hits and three runs--one of which was earned with one walk and four strikeouts.
The Defenders were totaled 12 singles and a homerun by Kassandra Heynen for their 13 base knocks. Amber Soodsma was 2-5 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Sarah Seymour was 2-5 with a run batted in and Megan Huizenga was 2-4. Heynen was 2-4 with a single and a homerun with two runs scored and three runs batted in. Becca Hengeveled had two hits with two runs scored. The score could have been more lopsided with Dordt stranding 11 runners.
Dordt concludes the regular season with an 18-18 record and they enter the post season with a 14-10 conference mark. Hastings is 25-21 overall and 16-8 in the league. Hastings will host the GPAC eight-team tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
