Dordt College Softball vs. Northwestern

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College scored five unanswered runs and rolled up a 5-1 win over the Northwestern Red Raiders in game one of their doubleheader on Tuesday in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Northwestern scored an unearned run in the first frame but Dordt struck for three in the second to get the lead for good. Sarah Seymour singled to lead the inning off and Kassandra Heynen doubled to get runners at second and third. Megan Huizenga singled to knock both runs in and then she eventually scored on an error.
The Defenders scored one more in each of the third and fourth innings. Carla VanderWoude scored on a Jaclyn Ver Mulm single in the third and Amber Soodsma knocked Kaitlyn Lockhorst in during the fourth for the 5-1 win.
Soodsma was the winning pitcher with five hits allowed and one unearned run. She walked four and struck out five in her sixth win of the season.
Dordt outhit the visitors 12-5 and got multiple hits from Lockhorst, Seymour, Heynen, Huizenga and Ver Mulm. Huizenga knocked in two runs and Seymour and Heynen had a double each.
