Dordt College Softball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Falls, South Dakota) The Dordt Defender softball team made a sweep of their games with Sioux Falls on Wednesday night with a 7-2 win over the Cougars. Dordt's Amanda Nikkel was able to sidestep trouble and scatter 11 hits in getting the pitching win.
Dordt got on the board with three in the third inning Amber Soodsma tripling in a run to start the scoring and Kassandra Heynen had a run scoring single followed by a double that plated a run by Megan Huizenga. Kaitlyn Lockhorst started the scoring in the fourth with a single and two more runs scored on an error on the play. Up 6-0 the Defenders got one more in the fifth on a Jaclyn Ver Mulm double with Sioux Falls getting two across in the sixth for the final of 7-2.
Dordt was out-hit 11-10 with Megan Huizenga going 3-4 with a double and two singles. Ver Mulm and Lockhorst both had two hits with both producing a run batted in and a run scored. Soodsma knocked in a run and scored a run while getting a triple.
Nikkel was the winner with six strikeouts, no walks and 11 hits allowed.
Dordt is now 8-10 overall and 4-2 in the league while Sioux Falls slips to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the GPAC. Dordt will travel to Crete, Nebraska to face Doane on Friday night in a conference doubleheader.
