(York, Nebraska) The Dordt softball team bounced back from a game one loss to earn a split of their doubleheader with York College in York, Nebraska on Thursday afternoon in non-conference play.

The Defenders banged out 14 hits and took advantage of four York errors in taking the 7-5 decision.

Sarah Visser was the winning pitcher and struck out eight while scattering eight hits. Dordt was led on offense by Sarah Seymour, Amber Soodsma and Amanda Nikkel with two hits each. Megan Huizenga reached base four times. Jaclyn Ver Mulm knocked in a pair with one basehit and Soodsma had a pair knocked in as well.

Soodsma and Hengeveld had Dordt's lone extra-base hits.

Dordt's three run sixth inning was set up by Sarah Seymour singling and Megan Huizenga reached on an error. Jaclyn Ver Mulm followed up with a double to score two runs and Amber Soodsma delivered a two out single that scored Ver Mulm.

Dordt is now 2-4 and will face MidAmerica Nazerene on Friday.
