Game Media

(Peru, Nebraska) The Dordt Defender softball team committed two costly errors in losing game two of their doubleheader with Peru State on Wednesday, February 25. The Defenders managed to knock out six hits as did the hosts but Dordt stranded four and allowed five unearned runs in the fifth inning.

Peru State scored all of their runs in the fifth inning. A bases loaded walk broke up the scoreless tie and a two-out error opened the door for the Bobcats to score five more runs for a lead the Defenders could not overcome.

Dordt got their run in the seventh inning when Amanda Nikkel doubled and Ver Haar scored her from second with a single and two outs.

Nikkel took the loss, working the complete game and allowed six hits with five walks and six strikeouts. Hibma and Nikkel each had two hits while Becca Hengeveld and Ver Haar accounted for the other hits with singles. Nikkel's double was the only extra base hit for Dordt College.

Dordt is now 1-3 and will next play York College in York, Nebraska on Thursday, March 5.
