Dordt College Softball vs. Dakota State

(Sioux City, Iowa) Dordt College scored a come from behind win over the Dakota State Trojans in non-conference softball in Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday afternoon by a 9-4 margin.
Dordt fell behind 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fifth before getting six runs across on the way to the five run win.
Dordt scored in the first when Sarah Seymour knocked Becca Hengeveld in with a single and the Defenders led 2-1 after three when Seymour reached on a double, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Megan Huizenge double, her first of two on the night.
Dordt allowed three runs in the top of the fifth but responded in the home half of the frame with Hengeveld reaching on a bunt and Soodsma followed with a single. A Jaclyn Ver Mulm single scored two and Huizenga pushed Ver Mulm across with another two-bagger. An Amanda Nikkel walk set the table for Sarah Visser who delivered with a two run double and Kristin Santana capped the scoring with a single.
Dordt got one more in the sixth when Seymour reached for the third time in four at-bats and her tenth time in eleven at-bats spanning a three game period. She tripled and scored on a Ver Mulm single.
Seymour was 3-4 with two runs scored and an rbi with a single, double and triple. Ver Mulm was 3-4 with a run scored and three runs batted in and Huizenga was a perfect 3-3 with two doubles and two runs batted in. Hengeveld singled twice and Dorinda Hibma had a pair of stolen bases.
Amber Soodsma was the winning pitcher--earning her sixth win this season while scattering nine hits, walking two and she struck out three.
