Dordt College Softball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) Amber Soodsma fired a one-hitter and the Dordt College Defender softball team took an 8-0 win in a five inning decision over the Mount Marty Lancers in game one of their doubleheader in Yankton, South Dakota on Tuesday night. The Defenders improved to 11-8 with the win and broke a scoreless tie with four runs in the third inning.
Dordt scored when Kristin Santana singled and Becca Hengeveld doubled. Amber Soodsma got credit for two runs batted in with a double and Sarah Seymour knocked in a pair with a double later in the inning. Soodsma struck for a solo homerun in the fourth inning to make it 5-0 and the Defenders pushed three more across in the fifth when Jaclyn Ver Mulm singled, Megan Huizenga doubled and Sarah Visser clubbed both in with a single. Kristin Santana then knocked in Visser for the eighth run of the game with her single.
Soodsma worked a no hitter into the fifth before allowing a single with one out. Soodsma allowed one walk and struck out six and was 2-3 at the plate on a double and a homerun.
Santana was 2-4 with a run scored and one run batted in and had a single and a double. Sarah Visser was a perfect 3-3 with two runs batted in and Sarah Seymour had an rbi with her double.
