Dordt College Softball vs. Midland Lutheran

(Fremont, Nebraska) Midland Lutheran made the most of three hits to score a 2-0 win over the Dordt Defender softball team on Wednesday night in Fremont, Nebraska. The two teams played scoreless softball until the bottom of the sixth when the Warriors got a pair of runs.
Dordt had their chances in the first game of the doubleheader with Kristin Santana getting to second base on an error and stolen base with no outs in the first inning but was stranded there. Megan Huizenga singled to lead off the fifth inning and gave way to pinch-runner Kaitlyn Lockhorst who stole second but was stranded at second with the next three batters going down. Amber Soodsma got thrown out at third base in the sixth inning when she tried to score on an error.
Midland Lutheran scored their runs in the home half of the sixth and Dordt threatened again in the top of the seventh, getting Jaclyn Ver Mulm on third and Sarah Visser on first by error with one out but couldn't get the timely hit to get a run in.
Dordt out hit the hosts 4-3 with Huizenga going 2-2 and Soodsma and Ver Mulm accounted for the other two hits. Soodsma takes the pitching loss while allowing one earned run, one walk and three hits while striking out three.
