Dordt College Softball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) For the second straight game the Dordt Defender softball team was outhit but the Defenders still managed to score a sweep of the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in Great Plains Athletic Conference action behind the strong pitching performance of Sarah Visser.
Dordt got three unearned runs to take the win, their third in a row and swept a conference doubleheader for the first time since mid-April of 2007.
Dordt got a pair in the fourth when Amber Soodsma reached on an error and Sarah Seymour doubled. A throwing error by the Tigers resulted in the ball getting into the leftfield corner on a pickoff attempt and both runners chased home. Dordt got some insurance in the sixth when Soodsma reached on an error and Seymour doubled and Soodsma scored on the play when the throw to third was off the mark.
Visser scattered seven hits and walked two while striking out eight in the win while Nekrassoff allowed five hits and three runs and took the loss in both ends of the doubleheadre.
Seymour had two hits and Soodsma, Hengeveld and Santana each had base knocks.
Dordt is 6-6 in the league and 9-17 overall while Weslyean slips to 5-15 overall and 1-9 in the conference. Dordt is scheduled to play at Northwestern in Orange City on Tuesday, April 7 and will host Dakota State in non-conference play on Wednesday.
