Dordt College Softball vs. Mid America Nazarene

(Olathe, Kansas) Dordt College ended up on the short end of a wild affair in their final game of the MidAmerica Nazarene Invite. Facing the Pioneers for the second time this weekend, the Defenders fell behind 12-3 but bounced back for 13 unanswered runs to lead 16-12 but allowed ten runs by the hosts for the final of 22-16, falling to 1-4 for the season and the weekend. The game was tied at 16-16 at the end of the seventh inning with MidAmerica scoring six in the extra frame for the win.

Dordt got a pair of homeruns by Kassandra Heynen and Sarah Seymour in the loss. Becca Hengeveld and Melissa Ver Haar each had three hits in the loss with Dorinda Hibma, Kristin Santana and Suzi Butier each knocking in three runs.

Dordt will travel to Arizona for several games over Spring Break in mid-March for their next outings.

Sarah Visser took the loss, her third decision of the weekend, working the final two innings and was charged with eight runs. Amanda Nikkel pitched in relief of Carissa Hondred and worked four and one-third innings while allowing three runs.
