Dordt College Softball vs. Robert Morris

(Tucson, Arizona) The Dordt College Defender softball team took a come from behind win over Robert Morris (Illinois) on Friday, March 14 in Tucson, Arizona. The Defenders trailed 10-4 going into the fifth inning but managed to plate four runs in the fifth, another two in the sixth and got the winning run across in the bottom of the seventh when Suzi Butier reached on a bunt single and Becca Hengeveld followed with a slap-bunt that was misplayed into a pair of throwing errors that allowed Butier to race around the bases and score.
Amber Soodsma started the game on the mound and gave way to Amanda Nikkel who was credited with the win. Soodsma was 3-4 at the plate with four runs batted in and Jenna Vander Woude had a pair of doubles in Dordt's second win of the season.
Both teams were plagued with defensive trouble with 11 errors charged between the two squads.
Dordt is now 2-5 and will face Cornerstone and Waldorf on Saturday, March 15.
