Dordt College Softball vs. Concordia

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Concordia swept their doubleheader with Dordt College in GPAC softball on Saturday with an 11-4 final in game two. The two teams traded runs in the first inning and Concordia got another in the third, two in the fifth and six in the sixth before Dordt countered with three in the home half of the sixth inning. Concordia scored one in the seventh for the final of 11-4.

Dordt got their run in the first when Becca Hengeveld singled, stole second base, reached third on a passed ball and then scored on a Mizza Ver Haar single. Kristin Santana knocked in two with a double in the sixth, scoring Jenna Vander Woude and Amber Soodsma and Sarah Visser knocked in Santana with a single for Dordt's scoring.

Visser was the pitcher of record for Dordt with five innings pitched, seven hits, six runs, two walks and three strikeouts. Ver Haar had two hits and Visser was 3-3 at the plate as Dordt was outhit just 12-10.

Dordt is now 1-13 in the GPAC and 4-24 overall while Concordia is 13-1 and 21-5. Dordt is scheduled to face Dakota Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 22 and Mount Marty on Wednesday, April 23.
