(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost a 5-1 decision in game two of their doubleheader with Midland Lutheran on Monday night in Sioux Center.

Dordt's run came in the first inning when Jaclyn Ver Mulm hit a solo homerun for a 1-0 lead. Midland Lutheran scored one in the third and another in the fourth and then tacked on two in the fifth and one in the sixth for a 5-1 win.

Midland Lutheran outhit Dordt 10-5 with Dordt getting singles from Becca Hengeveld, Kassandra Heynen, Sarah Visser and Suzi Butier. Amber Soodsma absorbs the loss, allowing five runs on ten hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Kelly Sladek was the winner for Midland with five hits allowed and 14 strikeouts.

dordt falls to 5-29 overall and 2-18 in the GPAC while Midland Lutheran is 17-7 and 27-13. Dordt concludes the 2008 season with a doubleheader at Dana on Tuesday, April 29 and a home doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 30.
