Dordt College Softball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost a 6-1 decision in game one of their doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan in Sioux Center, Iowa on the final day of the 2008 season.

Wesleyan scored three in the second inning and then tacked on one more in the fourth before Dordt struck for their only run of the game. Amber Soodsma singled with one out in the inning and scored on a Jaclyn Ver Mulm single and error to make it 4-1. The Prairie Wolves got two more across in the fifth for a final of 6-1. Wesleyan outhit the Defenders narrowly--8-7.

Dordt got two hits from Ver Mulm and one hit each from Soodsma, Becca Hengeveld, Kassandra Heynen, Sarah Visser and Suzi Butier. Soodsma took the loss, allowing six runs--four of them earned with no walks and four strikeouts and eight hits.
