Dordt College Softball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Falls, South Dakota) Sioux Falls managed a split in taking game two of their doubleheader with the Dordt Defenders in softball Monday night in Sioux Falls. The Cougars and Defenders traded a pair of runs in teh second inning with Dordt going scoreless the rest of the game while Sioux Falls got one run each in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

Becca Hengeveld and Jaclyn Ver Mulm each had rbi singles in the second inning for Dordt's offense, scoring Amanda Nikkel and Suzi Butier.

Amber Soodsma took the loss, allowing four hits, five runs--two of them earned with two walks and four strikeouts. Sarah Seymour had two hits while Hengeveld, Ver Mulm, Vander Woude, Nikkel and Butier each had a basehit. Dordt outhit the Cougars 8-4 but committed five errors. Dordt stranded nine while Sioux Falls left four on.

Dordt is now 4-16 overall and 1-5 in the league while Sioux Falls is 2-6 and 1-5. Dordt will travel to Sioux City, Iowa on Wednesday to face Morningside.
