(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt College softball team earned a 4-2 win over the Mount Marty Lancers in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball on Tuesday night in Yankton, South Dakota.

Dordt struck first when Beth Van Maanen singled and was knocked in by a Jaclyn Ver Mulm triple. Ver Mulm later scored on a Mandy Visser ground out for a 2-0 lead. Dordt got another run in the fourth when Liz De Vries, Sarah Boer and Suzi Butier singled iwth two outs to score De Vries. The Defenders tacked one more on in the fifth when Amber Daane tripled and scored on a Beth Van Maanen single. Mount Marty put two on the board in the sixth and Dordt held on for the 4-2 win, outhitting the hosts 10-6.

Amber Daane, Beth Van Maanen, Liz De Vries and Sarah Boer all had two hits while Sarah Visser got the win, allowing six hits, two runs and struck out six while surrendering one earned run.
