Dordt College Softball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt battled out Sioux Falls in game 2 of the double header and won again, 7-3.
Dordt once again struck early and led by one after the first inning of play when Amanda Pothoven lifted a sacrifice fly to the outfield, scoring Mandy Visser. Sioux Falls countered scoring a run of their own in the 2nd. Dordt scored two more in the bottom half of the second inning on a triple by Beth Van Maanen and a double by Mandy Visser to take a 3-1 lead. Sioux Falls scored 1 run in both the third and fourth innings to tie the game but Dordt matched the output with one in the bottom of the third and three more in the fourth. The Defenders' Amber Daane doubled and scored in the third while Mandy Visser singled in Susi Butier in the fourth and Jaclyn Ver Mulm tripled again to knock in a run while Daane pushed another run in with a sacrifice fly to give Dordt the 7-3 final margin.
Sioux Falls scored 3 runs on 4 hits and made no errors. Dordt scored 7 runs on 10 hit and committed 3 errors. Mandy Visser went 3 for 4 with 2 runs batted in and Liz De Vries went 2 for 3 with an rbi of her own. Six Dordt players tallied a hit and all but one of those also went on to score. Tessa Prins pitched all 7 innings and gave up 3 runs on 4 hits.
Sioux Falls falls to 2-15 overall, 2-13 in the conference while Dordt wins their 2nd straight and improves to 5-20, 2-10 in the conference. The win snaps a 12 game losing skid for the Defenders.
