Dordt College Softball vs. Northwestern

(Orange City, Iowa) The Northwestern Red Raiders completed their sweep of Dordt College in Great Plains Athletic Conference softball Monday night with a 3-1 decision in game two of their doubleheader.
Dordt scored a run in the third inning when Kristin Santana was hit by a pitch with two outs and advanced to second on a Jenna Vander Woude single. Jaclyn Ver Mulm then delivered a single to score the run. Dordt loaded the bases in the frame but failed to do any more damage. Northwestern scored all of their runs in the home half of the fourth inning. Dordt actually outhit the hosts 6-5 with Vander Woude, Ver Mulm, Amanda Pothoven, Mandy Visser, Liz De Vries and Melissa Ver Haar getting base hits against starter Laura Calvert.
Sarah Visser went the distance, allowing five hits, three runs, two of which were earned, walked four and struck out three. Calvert allowed the one run on one walk, six hits and six strikeouts.
Dordt falls to 2-16 in the league and 5-26 overall while Northwestern is 27-14 and 15-5. Dordt travels to Yankton, South Dakota to face Mount Marty on Tuesday, April 24.
