Dordt College Softball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt softball team opened their conference season tonight, losing the 1st of two games at Nebraska Wesleyan. The Defenders had 25 at bats with 8 hits and two runs. Short stop Mandy Visser and third baseman Amanda Pothoven each connected for two hits with one RBI a piece.

Pothoven's single to center field allowed her to advance to second and got Ver Haar home for Dordt's first score of the night. In the fifth, Pothoven scored on a Visser double to right center to complete the scoring for the Defenders. Also recording hits on the night were Melissa Ver Haar, Jaclyn Ver Mulm, Liz De Vries and Sarah Visser.

Nebraska Welsleyan was good for 10 runs and 16 hits with 28 at bats. With the win, Nebraska Wesleyan's Tiedgen moved to 4-1 on the year. Van Gorp was the losing pitcher for the Defenders.
