Dordt College Softball vs. Minnesota Crookston

(Sioux City, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender softball team came back from a first inning deficit of 1-0 to defeat Minnesota-Crookston on Friday at the Morningside Invite in Sioux City by a 6-1 score.
Dordt scored on a Jackie Ver Mulm single in the first inning and capitalized on three Crookston errors in the frame to tie it at 1-1. Ver Mulm also figured into a run in the third inning with a sacrifice fly. A couple passed balls led to two other runs in the inning for a 4-1 Dordt advantage and Kristin Santana delivered an rbi single in the fourth as the Defenders plated two more runs for the final margin of 6-1.
Carissa Van Gorp worked the distance, allowing seven hits and one run with three walks and three strikeouts. Kristin Santana had a 2-3 day at the plate with two runs scored and a run batted in while Jackie Ver Mulm had two runs batted in. Beth Van Maanen and Mandy Visser both were 1-3 with a run batted in and a run scored respectively.
Dordt is now 2-7 and will face the College of Saint Mary at 5:30. Crookston entered the weekend 0-7.
