Dordt College Softball vs. Texas Wesleyan

(Dallas, Texas) Texas Wesleyan earned a sweep of the Dordt Defender softball team on the Defenders' second day of their spring trip.
The Defender scored one in the first but the Rams blew the game open with six in the fifth, ending the game on the margin rule with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Dordt's lone run came on a Kristin Santana walk followed by an Amanda Pothoven single. Mandy Visser walked with first base open to load the bases and Santana scored on the next at bat with a passed ball.
Dordt's Melissa Ver Haar, Amanda Pothoven and Mandy Visser accounted for their three hits with a single each. Sarah Visser was saddled with the loss, working four and a third innings, allowing nine hits, nine runs--eight of which were earned, walked four and struck out one.
Dordt College is now 0-4 and will have Thursday off before resuming play on Friday in a tournament hosted by Oklahoma City University. The Defenders are scheduled to play Oklahoma Christian and Newman (Kansas) on Friday and will play in cross-pool action on Saturday against foes to be determined. Texas Wesleyan is now 7-16.
