Dordt College Softball vs. Oklahoma Baptist

(Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) The Dordt College Defender softball team lost their season opener today at Oklahoma Baptist University by a 4-2 score in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Defenders scored first with a pair of runs in the first inning when Amanda Pothoven had a single and Melissa Ver Haar followed with a single. Jaclyn Ver Mulm belted a two-out single to centerfield that scored both Dordt College runners. Dordt's next best chance to score came in the seventh inning when they stranded two runners but came up empty.

Carissa Van Gorp went six innings in the loss, allowing four runs--three of which were earned and struck out three and walked four in the loss.

Ver Haar, Pothoven and Ver Mulm hits in the first inning were the only hits the Defenders had in the game.
