Dordt College Softball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves scored three runs in the first inning and never trailed in taking a 9-6 win on Tuesday for the sweep of Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader at Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt got two hits each from Jill Gruppen, Amanda Pothoven and Lisa Moore and Mandy Visser scored two runs for the Lady Defenders. Dordt did get the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh after trailing 9-2 entering the inning, but a fielder's choice ended the game.
Mandy Visser took the loss while Ashley Tiedgen earned the win, allowing seven runs on nine hits. Wesleyan banged out 15 hits as a team.
Dordt is now 9-11 in the league and 13-19 overall. The Prairie Wolves are 10-10 in the GPAC and 20-14 overall. Dordt is currently seventh in the race for one of the top eight spots in the final GPAC standings and a berth in the post-season tournament. Nebraska Wesleyan is not included in the post-season tournament because of their affiliation in NCAA Division III for softball.
