(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Defenders are still seeking their first win of the season after a 1-0 loss to the Briar Cliff Chargers.

Sophomore Marissa Le Duc missed a penalty kick in the 84th minute that would have tied the game, and the Defenders only notched two shots on goal as they dropped their second 1-0 decision of the year.

Sophomore McKayla Wessling was the lone goal-scorer on a windy afternoon that was tough on both offenses.

Wessling received a cross from senior Sadelle Schultz and buried her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Briar Cliff recorded just seven shots on goal against senior keeper Katie Kortman.

Dordt College fell to 0-12-0 (0-8-0), and Briar Cliff advanced its record to 7-4-1 (3-1-0).

The Defenders play a road game at Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 12.
