(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defenders took their fierce rivals to the wire, but in the end, dropped a 1-0 decision to Northwestern College on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior Ann Calsbeek scored her first goal of the season for the Red Raiders off an assist from freshman Alissa Christoffer. The 54th-minute Northwestern goal was the only blemish in what was otherwise a solid defensive effort by the Defenders.

Dordt College was shut out for the 11th time as they managed just one shot on goal. The 1-0 loss was Dordt’s third one-goal loss of the season.

The Defenders fell to 0-15-0 (0-7-0) and Northwestern improved to 8-6-2 (5-2-1).

Dordt plays at Doane College on Saturday, still in pursuit of their first win.
