Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. St. Ambrose

(Sioux Center, Iowa) In spite of being outshot by a substantial margin the Defender women managed to allow 2 early goals to stand up as they picked up a 2-1 victory over St. Ambrose University in a non-conference contest played in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt College got out of the gate quickly with two tallies just 28 seconds apart in the 8th minute of play. Senior midfielder Rindy De Nooy got the Defenders on the board first when she got in behind the Bees defense on a good ball sent in from Kelly Smies. The goal is De Nooy's team leading 6th of the season while Kelly Smies posted her second assist of the 2011 campaign.
Dordt senior midfielder Morgan Meissner tallied the eventual game winner just 28 seconds later when she ripped home a ball that was slightly deflected after a nice cross in from senior midfielder Stephanie Cooper. The goal is Meissner's second of the year.
Barely six minutes into the second half, Saint Ambrose cut the Dordt lead in half when Molly Rockrohr headed home a corner kick, making it a 2-1 game.
The Bees had the better half of the play in the final 45 minutes but could not tie the game allowing the Defenders to improve to 6-6 on the year. St. Ambrose outshot Dordt College 13-6 in the contest and 9 to 1 in the second half of play.
Katie Kortman had 6 saves in goal for Dordt College while Morgan Lynn had 4 saves for St. Ambrose.

Dordt College will resume GPAC play on Wednesday, October 12 when they travel to Mitchell, SD to take on Dakota Wesleyan at 5:30 pm.
