Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Hastings

(Sioux Center, IA) For 108 minutes the Dordt College women's soccer team stood toe-to-toe with the nationally ranked Hastings College Broncos on Saturday, October 29. The GPAC Champion Broncos broke through for a goal at the 8:19 mark over the second overtime period and finished the season with a perfect 10-0 mark in the GPAC.

Dordt got on the board with a Morgan Meissner goal just before the half break, knocking in a ball that was bouncing free in the box in the 44th minute.

Hastings evened the score in the 68th minute when Jessica Carlson sent a corner kick in that Maddie Michalek headed in for the equalizer.

The two teams played the rest of regulation even and were well into the second overtime when Taylor Voycheske finished it when she knocked in a loose ball after a corner kick.

Dordt was outshot 19-6 overall and 8-1 on goal. Katie Kortman recorded six saves in goal for the Defenders.

Dordt finishes the regular season with a 9-9 overall record and a 6-4 GPAC mark. Hastings closes out a perfect 10-0 conference record and a 14-3-1 overall record.

Both teams will qualify for the GPAC post-season tournament, an eight-team field, with play beginning on Thursday, November 3. The bracket for the tournament will be released late tonight.
