Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux City, Iowa) Dordt College helped their bid for a home game in the first round of the GPAC post-season tournament with a 4-1 win over Briar Cliff in women's soccer on Tuesday, October 26 in Sioux City, Iowa. The Defenders scored four unanswered goals before surrendering the shutout in the 83rd minute of play.
Dordt scored in the 18th and 19th minutes when Noelle Kreykes scored on an unassisted goal and Elise Wedel knocked in a pass from Morgan Rodenburgh for a 2-0 lead. Kreykes got free for another unassisted goal in the 23rd minute for a commanding 3-0 lead and Kelly Smies banged in a goal in the 29th minute to put the game out of reach.
Briar Cliff averted the shutout with their late score, finally getting a goal past Dordt's Katie Kortman who registered 13 saves in the win. Dordt was outshot on goal 14-8 but managed to lift its record to 12-4-2 overall and 6-3-2 in the conference in the regular season finale for the team. Briar Cliff slips to 2-12 and 2-8. Dordt now awaits the GPAC tournament pairings to be released on Saturday, October 30.
