Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Northwestern

(Orange City, IA) Sarah Byron scored a goal with less than four minutes remaining in regulation to break a 0-0 deadlock and hand the Dordt Defender women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Northwestern in Orange City.
Byron got free when a Northwestern defensive player fell down leaving the sophomore with a one on one chance against the Northwestern keeper and she slid it by for the game winner.
Dordt was outshot 15-10 but managed to put six shots on goal to Northwestern's five. Katie Kortman recorded five saves for the Defenders in preserving the shutout.
Dordt is now 10-3-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the league while Northwestern falls to 6-7-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Dordt steps outside the conference for the last time this Saturday when they host North Central (Minnesota). After Saturday's game the Defenders will have three conference matches left.
