Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team earned a 2-0 win over Sioux Falls in Great Plains Athletic Conference play on Tuesday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. Sioux Falls entered the match with a 4-0-1 record in conference play. The win snapped a two loss string for the Defenders.

Dordt scored in the 52nd minute on a goal by Kelly Smies off an assist by Sarah Byron where Smies was able to beat the keeper for Sioux Falls one on one. Dordt got a goal for insurance in the 71st minute when Noelle Kreykes headed in a crossing pass from Morgan Rodenburgh. The goal was Kreykes's ninth of the season and Rodenburgh's four assist. Smies has now scored three goals.

Katie Kortman faced four shots--three of them on goal and registered the needed three saves for her fifth shut-out of the season. Dordt outshot the visitors 15-4 with eight of the Defender shots on goal.

Dordt is now 8-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the league while Sioux Falls is now 6-3-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference.

Dordt will face Concordia in Seward, Nebraska this Saturday afternoon.
