Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Ashford

The Dordt College women's soccer team was a 3-1 winner over Ashford (Iowa) on Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa. For the second straight day the game was played in warm sunny conditions as the Defenders improved to 2-0 for the season.

Dordt started the scoring with a Noelle Kreykes goal off a cross from Lexi Elgersma in the 13th minute. Ashford equalized the score in the 35th minute with a Mackenzie Mueller goal that was unassisted.

Tied 1-1, the Defenders scored two goals midway through the second half for the win. Rindy DeNooy scored on a penalty kick on a foul called in the box in the 70th minute and Noelle Kreykes banged in a shot off a rebound of her own missed shot in the 71st minute to get the Defenders their final margin of victory.

Dordt outshot the Saints 16-7. Six of the Ashford shots were on goal with Katie Kortman recording five saves in goal.

Dordt will face Waldorf (Iowa) in Sioux Center on Tuesday, August 31 at 2:00.
