Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Midland Lutheran-GPAC Semifinals

(Fremont, Nebraska) The Midland Lutheran Warriors scored a goal shortly after the start of the second overtime in today's Great Plains Athletic Conference women's soccer game to take a 2-1 win over the Dordt Defenders and advanced to the tournament finals opposite Dakota Wesleyan.
The Defenders got credit for a goal in the 3rd minute of the first half when a clearing attempt by Midland Lutheran went in their goal for a 1-0 Dordt lead. Midland Lutheran scored shortly after in the 11th minute to even it. Kayla Smelker got credit for the goal off an assist by Brooke Giebler. The two teams played the rest of the half and regulation with out scoring. Dordt did have a shot to take the lead that bounced off the cross bar in the second half but chances were at a premium for the Defenders most of the game. Midland Lutheran finally ended it with a Hillary Hansen goal in the second overtime off a rebound in the 103rd minute.
Dordt was outshot 24-10 overall and 15-7 on goal. Dordt's Steph Goslinga had 13 saves.
Dordt's season ends at 16-3-1 while Midland Lutheran advances on with a 16-2 record. Midland Lutheran will earn the second automatic berth to the NAIA National Soccer tournament along with regular season champion Dakota Wesleyan.
