Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team scored a 4-0 win over the Briar Cliff Chargers on a windy, damp and cold day in Sioux Center, Iowa, Tuesday, October 6.

Dordt scored a pair of goals in each half and controlled most of play in posting their fifth shutout in a row and their eighth of the season in building an 11-1 overall mark and a 6-1 league mark.

Dordt scored on their first possession when Kate Du Mez snuck her 13th goal of the season through past a drawn out keeper for a 1-0 lead in the second minute of play. Dordt then got a Lindsay Baker goal in the 35th minute when she banged it in after cross bar. Up 2-0 at halftime the Defenders scored two more in the second half with Heather Brand scoring in the 72nd minute and Lexi Elgersma knocked one in during the 89th minute.

Dordt outshot the visitors 20-5 with Steph Goslinga recording four saves. Courtney Bahney had seven saves while facing 11 shots on goal.

Briar Cliff falls to 2-3-1 in the league and 4-6-1 overall. Dordt will face Jamestown (North Dakota) in a non-conference game on Saturday at 2:00 and will face Hastings one week from this Saturday in its next conference outing.
