Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Northwestern

(Sioux Center) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team improved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference on Wednesday afternoon with a shutout win over the Northwestern Red Raiders in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Dordt got on the board in the 27th minute when Kate Du Mez launched a shot that cleared the Northwestern keeper's hands and bent into the goal with the help of the wind. Lindsay Baker made it 2-0 with her sixth goal of the season in the 37th minute and just two minutes later Lexi Elgersma got one in the net off a feed from Elise Wedel.
Dordt added a goal into the wind in the second half of an own goal where Lindsay Baker sent it to the Northwestern goal and the Red Raider defense, in an attempt to clear the ball, sent it into the net.
Dordt outshot Northwestern 33-1 and managed to get 22 shots on goal while Northwestern didn't muster a shot on goal in their third loss of the conference season.
Dordt is now 9-1 overall and 4-1 in the GPAC with a game at Dana this weekend. Northwestern slides to 1-3-1 in the league and 1-7-1 overall.
