Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Concordia (NE)

(Sioux Center) The Dordt women's soccer team beat the Concordia Bulldogs 3-0 in GPAC play today to improve to 8-1 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Dordt's first tally came when sophomore midfielder Kelly Smies (Oostburgh, Wisconsin) scored her third goal of the season, heading home a great cross from sophomore striker Rindy De Nooy (Sioux Center, IA)in the 25th minute of action.
Dordt took a 1-0 lead in to half time and in a span of less than 10 minutes pushed the margin to 3-0 with goals coming in the 60th and 69th minutes. Dordt's second goal came when senior midfielder Kate Du Mez (Brookfield, Wisconsin) sent a lovely ball from 25 yards out that found the foot of Elise Wedel. Wedel, a freshman from Buhler, Kansas settled that ball and calmly pushed it into the back of the net for her second mark of the year. The assist was DuMez's fifth of the year. The final goal of the match came as sophomore Morgan Rodenburgh (Sioux Center, Iowa) received a pass at the midfield line and proceeded to carry it all the way down the left side beating a couple Bulldog defenders along the way before knocking the ball into the top left corner of the goal for her third of the year.
The Dordt Defenders outshot Concordia 26-3 on the game and Ariel Harris had 8 saves for Concordia while Steph Goslinga recorded 2 saves for Dordt.
Dordt will return to GPAC action when they play host to Northwestern College on Wednesday, September 30 at 2:00 pm.
