Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Mitchell, SD) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the 2009 season with a 2-1 loss to Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell, South Dakota, Wednesday night.
The Defenders got on the board in the fifth minute when Lindsay Baker (Senior; Grand Rapids, Michigan) scored on an unassisted goal for a 1-0 lead. Wesleyan responded in the 25th minute when Kasha Roberts scored the first of her two goals off a cross from Abby Hubbard to knot the score. Tied at 1-1, Dakota Wesleyan broke through for the eventual game winner in the 73rd minute with Roberts again finding the net. Dordt couldn't counter and for the second year in a row the game between the two conference rivals ended 2-1. Dordt won last year's meeting in Sioux Center.
Steph Goslinga faced 14 shots in goal and made ten saves with 12 of the Dakota Wesleyan shots on goal. Dordt had 17 shots in the game with ten on goal and Danielle Richardson recorded nine saves for the Tigers who are now 5-0-2. Dordt slips to 5-1 and 0-1 in the GPAC.
Dordt will face Doane College on Saturday night in Crete, Nebraska in conference play.
