(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt women's soccer team finished an unblemished conference schedule today defeating Hastings 1-0 to win the GPAC play-off championship. The Dordt women were 12-0 in regular season play and won all three of their play-off games by one goal margins to secure the post-season title.

Although neither team managed a goal in the first half of the match there were opportunities for both sides but none found the back of the net.

Lindsay Baker (Junior: Grand Rapids, MI) got Dordt on the board in the 66th minute when she hit a great one timer from about 15 yards that the Hastings keeper did not even make a move on. The ball had been sent in from the right and Hastings was unable to make a solid clearance, Baker ran forward from her central midfield position and buried it.

There were some anxious moments for Dordt as Hastings hit the cross bar once in the first half and again in the second but the Lady Defenders had the better part of play in the contest outshooting Hastings 8-1. Dordt keeper Jenna Noteboom (Freshman: Ireton, Iowa) recorded one save in the first half and none in the second and Dordt's back line of Heidi Rozenboom, Amanda denDulk, Kristi Ouwinga and GPAC Defensive Player of the Year, Kelsie DeNooy, all played well to keep the Broncos from mounting much of an attack.

"I really felt like we had the bulk of the possession in the second half but I was getting concerned since we were unable to finish", said Coach Schenk, "it was a great relief to see Linds knock that one in. Kate (DuMez) cracked a couple long ones that would have been tough to stop if they were on frame. We have an awesome group of young women, each and every one, that compete and practice extremely hard and we are priveleged to work with them each day. Every single player really played with passion today and it was a solid TEAM effort."

The Dordt women now await word from the NAIA Soccer Seeding Committee which will post the November 22nd match-ups at 7 pm on Sunday, November 16.
