Dordt College Women's Soccer vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender women's soccer team blistered the Mount Marty Lancers with 39 shots Tuesday afternoon in Great Plains Athletic Conference play to take a 3-0 win in the first road test for the Defenders this season.
Dordt College got a pair of goals from Kate Du Mez and another from Lexi Elgersma in their fifth win in a row against a season opening loss.
Du Mez opened the scoring in the 13th minute when she intercepted a clear out and knocked it past the Mount Marty keeper. The score stood till halftime.
Lexi Elgersma gave the Defenders a 2-0 lead in the 55th minute when she scored off an assist by Heidi Rozenboom from 16 yards out. Du Mez then capped the scoring off an assist by Kristi Ouwinga in the 88th minute from 16 yards as well.
Dordt outshot the hosts 39-4 with Jenna Noteboom recording one save and the shutout.
Assistant Coach Tim Klein remarked: “The women played evenly up and down the field. We made some good transitions in the second half, changing the way we attacked and did a better job winning 50/50 balls.”
Du Mez's pair of goals move her to seventh all-time at Dordt College with 24.
Dordt is 5-1 and 3-0 in GPAC play while Mount Marty falls to 1-5-1 and 0-2. The Defenders travel to Concordia on Saturday, September 27 in their next outing, a 1:00 start.
